Maybe the version of Earl they showed in Canada was different, Daryl, because the one we saw was definitely 40 minutes, from 8:40 to 9:20, and it felt 40 minutes long. (Of course, that could've been because we were watching it live with commercials, but we skipped commercials on The Office and that felt long too.)
I guess, if you really, really wanted to see the previous episode on ABC.com, you could use one of those anonymizing services to change your IP to look like it's coming from the States, but I doubt you're willing to go to that much trouble for a TV show. It definitely sucks that they lock you out just because you're on the other side of the border, though...
